This is cute color block blanket that I plan to have done for a baby shower by March. Ha!
I’m still working on my last project, and I’ve already encountered “issues” with this one. Lion’s Brand no longer makes “cotton-ease” yarn. No biggie, right? I’ll just pick some other equal weight, hopefully soft yarn. The mommy has chosen “celery green and brown” as colors for the baby’s room, so this lack of cotton-ease yarn is the perfect opportunity to make my own color scheme.
I was standing in the yarn aisle of Hobby Lobby for well over half an hour, trying to decide on five colors of different brands of yarn. The cleaning guy must’ve thought I was crazy, laying out different colors and standing back and looking at them in different combinations over and over.
As a highly suggestible person, I instantly gravitated toward the “I love this yarn” brand. It is soft. And cheap. There’s got to be something wrong with it. But whatever it is, I can’t tell. So I picked that. Mostly. I also chose a couple colors from Lion’s Brand Vanessa’s Favorite.
I know. I feel like the knitting police are going to come knocking on my door. You’re not supposed to mix yarns! But guess what? There are no knitting police! Hahahaha. No one can stop me! The yarns feel about the same to me, and they’re the same weight. What’s the worst that can happen?
I may end up learning that the hard way, but or better or worse, here are my color choices:
The brown does look kinda like black, doesn’t it? And the “olive” and “dark olive” are awfully close… Well. For better or worse.
